I recently shared Monogem's fantastic single "The Glow," so I'm excited to show off their latest release, "Silhouette," on Indie Shuffle today.
It's becoming pretty apparent that the L.A, duo has a real talent for creating simple, fun, and completely catchy synth pop. I really love Jen Hirsh's vocals. Smooth and warm in timbre tone, the melody is inviting and unassuming.
The synth layers, courtesy of Scott Smith, fill out the soundscape; from the full bass to the punchy staccato beats, it just works.
The structure is basic: the verse starts the story and builds up to the bright bridge, complete with quirky little yelps at the end of each phrase. The chorus turns it up a notch, with the help of those invigorating synths and a gorgeous vocal hook. And so on. Basic, sure. Boring? Not even close.
Another great track from Monogem, Im really looking forward to hearing what's to come in 2015.
