Has SoundCloud made me too impatient with music? As clips seem to get shorter, I’m hesitant to check out tracks longer than four or five minutes, and often skip if I’m not interested within the first few.
In this way, I came quite close to missing Burial’s remix of Mønic's "Deep Summer." The track, available on SoundCloud, is 9 minutes long. The first half is the original “Deep Summer” by Mønic, which is beautifully drone-y, but a little plain for my taste. It then transitions into Burial’s beautiful remix, which builds slowly, hitting its stride within the very last minutes.
Even though I knew I found something great once I heard the hypnotic drums characteristic of UK producer Burial, it also made me start to wonder: had I lost any other great tracks to the depths of SoundCloud?
