Oooh girl, don't get me started on how nice this track is. MKSTN has brought the heat and crisp production with this one (and the rest of his discography). Light, atmospheric vocals top off the minimal electronic soundscape, reminiscent of akin acts like Ross From Friends or Tycho. "Salt N Pepper" follows precedent 2020 single, "Someday You'll Find Me."
Regarding his latest release, MKSTN said:
The song was inspired by the feeling of midnight mischief with that special someone or group. Letting loose, being reckless, chasing nostalgia, and having fun while falling in love to the moment. The main lyrics are "Me and you" but the song title is "Salt N Pepper" which plays on being the perfect pair (also the percussion sounds like a salt shaker).
Raised in downtown Toronto, MKSTN (pronounced Mike-stin) utilizes his experiences in the city as a foundation of experimentation, recruiting a wide-span of musical influences and subcultures. The product? A constantly evolving vibe that boasts an ethereal combination of pop, house, and alternative. Some of his collaborations like "Take Me Away" even reflect R&B and soul elements.
Whether he's producing head-bobbing instrumentals or partaking in groovy collaborations, MKSTN is always throwing it down. Enjoy!
