We're fully signed up to the Mistakes Are Ok fan club, despite the low-key Hivern associate's lack of releases. We've pretty much shared everything he's done, from a recent re-working of John Talabot to this spellbinding version of the The xx's "Reunion." Until now however, we hadn't actually heard an original track of his own.
Whilst "Night Watcher" appeared briefly on John Talabot's DJ-Kicks Mix, "Forgiven" is the first proper full track we've heard from the Barcelona-based producer, and it's everything you'd expect. Warmly textured, yet melancholic pads, rub against a shuffling rhythm, to create the melodic, emotional house sound which is Mistakes Are Ok's - and Hivern more generally - calling card.
The Forgiven EP, which also features two remixes from Edward, was released on vinyl on November 13th, and a digital edition follows on November 27th. Order a copy here, and keep your eyes on Mistakes Are Ok's Facebook page for more from him, including details on his upcoming album, Nowhere Near, which is due out early in 2016.
