Yes, hip-hop needed the return of iconic female rapper Missy Elliot and legendary producer Timbaland. After a long hiatus, Missy and Timbaland released two singles off a forthcoming Timbaland-produced album. Both musicians have an extensive history together, and I am sure the upcoming compendium of their music will prove to be successful and cause a fire storm in the blogosphere.
Lately, the rapper and producer have made headlines for their opinions about Drake's Aaliyah dedication album. The controversy over Drake not consulting with Missy and Timbaland for the album shouldn't exist, because any respectful person could recognize that Aaliyah's closest counterparts should be involved in the production. Both have a legitimate gripe against Drake's intentions, but hopefully the dedication album will be classy, honorable, and simply do Aaliyah's legacy justice.
However, I am
skeptical and wouldn't be surprised if Drake conjured up more of
this music to increase his notoriety.
