Why do we like this?
It's hard to escape the Miley Cyrus buzz, and today is no different, with San Francisco act Silver Swans offering up this cover of Miley's huge hit "Wrecking Ball." The moody electronic duo, consisting of producer and musician Jon Waters and vocalist Ann Yu, have infused "Wrecking Ball" with dark synths and ominous percussion, with Yu's eerily hushed vocals an ever brooding presence.
Known for their dark-themed takes on recent indie hits (Lana Del Rey's "Video Games" and The National's "Anyone's Ghost"), Silver Swans find themselves somewhere between the paranoid synth of The Knife and the dream pop illusions of Beach House, with their original material even more impressive than their covers.
