Why do we like this?

We’ve been loving the music coming out of Australia recently, and the Sydney-based, indie-pop trio Middle Kids is a perfect example.

The group has been on the radar in Australia since last year, streaming on the popular Australian radio show Triple-J, and they’ve been gaining global attention after heading to SXSW and playing on Conan and KEXP earlier this year.

"Edge of Town" is our favorite track from their self-titled EP released in February. The song starts off with simple drums, slide guitar, and compelling vocals that create a beautiful warm sound. But in the last minute of the song, the track shifts: first slowing down and then gradually building up to an all out jump-around-the-room-while-singing-along finale, with singer Hannah Joy pleading “Hey guys I got something on my mind... could you take it for a while?"

The rest of the EP doesn’t disappoint either, and we're looking forward to an LP from the band soon!
