Why do we like this?

The artist MGX (pronounced "magix") has officially entered the pop rock scene with her debut single, and its accompanying video, "Shox."

The track is a fun little blend of alternative megastars like Coldplay and Edward Sharpe -- with a sprinkling of some upbeat Michael Franti too. The anthemic chorus takes me back to the early 2000s, but in all the right ways.

MGX has played alongside all the big names. Everyone from The Killers to Jack White to Pearl Jam. So it's no surprise that her songwriting skills are through the roof. She's definitely an artist to keep your eye on.
