We're now approaching the fifteenth anniversary of the style of music known as 'French Touch' - although you may know it as Filter House or French House.
Pioneered by acts like Daft Punk, Alan Braxe and Mr Oizo, French House was a turn of the century phenomenon based around funky-as-hell baselines and liberal use of filters (hence Filter House).
It looks like the old French sound may be getting a resurgence judging by the latest release on Parisian label DKO records, Mézigue's "Le Problème Frenchtouch".
With all the key touchstones -- funky bassline, disco-y riff, plenty of use of the filter -- it ticks all the boxes, even going as far as sampling Mr Oizo's classic "Flat Beat". Whether this is the start of a resurgence or a one off remains to be seen, but you can pick up the track as part of the Kestuf Daronne? EP here.
Meanwhile, If you'd like to familiarize yourself further with the French house sound, this list is a great place to start.
