Why do we like this?
Adelaide-based band Messrs has turned a few heads already in their reasonably short lifespan. On the back of their demo "Everyone Knows," they performed at the 2011 Great Escape Festival in the UK before setting off on a European Tour shortly after. Since then, they've also appeared at some of the larger local festivals, and gaining support slots for the likes of Phoenix, Neon Indian and Kele.
Another single, "Moroccan Boy," also received glowing feedback, with the band's mixture of indie pop, punk and dance music well received among the blog community worldwide. They recently completed their debut EP, Welcome to Nowhere, which includes the two aforementioned tracks. Synth and percussion heavy, their music is slick and well produced, with a sound somewhere in between Foals and Cut Copy (not a bad mix huh?). New track "Desert" is a standout, toeing the line between a smooth groove and upbeat and frantic to perfection.
The EP was completed by noted producer Yama Indra (Cut Copy, Miami Horror, Cat Call), and they're already working on a follow-up LP which will no doubt see further progression from this already outstanding group.
