Until recently, Merle's "Fannie Likes 2 Dance" seemed destined to be one of those most sought after of a records - a cult classic, but one that only very few owned. Currently just 35 people have a copy of the original, which are fetching as much as $170 on Discogs.
However, that's all changed with a recent reissue of the record - with one slight catch. Rather than "Fannie Likes 2 Dance," the track has now been re-recorded as "Mimi Likes 2 Dance," as Merle updates the track from his ex-girlfriend, to current wife. Amusing gesture aside, the track retains all the potency of the original, a fantastically catchy chunk of late nineties disco house.
