To all the Maudlin Strangers fans out there, we have a treat for you. Premiering today on Indie Shuffle is the band's new single off of their Overdose EP, and this gem of a song is called "AIM."
As we already know, Maudlin Strangers is the solo project of California native Jake Hays. "AIM" is the perfect combination of luscious dark indie rock and gritty hard-hitting beats. Hays' voice is eerily similar to Arctic Monkeys, perfectly blended between layers of delicious electric guitar and smooth background vocals. Even with the upbeat melody, MS is capable of creating an amazingly sinister atmosphere.
The Overdose EP will be available nationwide on January 20 via Vagrant Records, which means all you MS fans will be playing this EP on repeat for the next month or so. As if his last two tracks weren't enough evidence of his unending talent, "AIM" is a clear indicator that MS is here for the long run.
