Ghostly International's Matthew Dear just released a new single for free download, following up from his 2010 album Black City. This will be included on a self-titled EP to be released via Ghostly in January, preceeding a full-length release called simply Beams.
The single is eclectic space-age synth-pop at it's best, playing upon quirky vocals cousin to The Knife, laid atop a mechanical sounding beat. Even if this isn't your type of jam, it's character is irrefutable. Interesting does not start to cover the gravelly synth-heavy sound and far-out lyrics Matthew Dear created. A relatively quiet year is ending with a bang for this artist, leaving fans looking forward to the new year.
Also released with the track is a SERIOUSLY trippy music video teaser, very Alice In Wonderland through the looking glass, which Ghostly's Vimeo page describes as "shifting quasi-geological patterns, which eventually morph into hazy, near-perceptible flashes." Check it out below.
