Why do we like this?
Brooklyn's indie rock duo Matt and Kim first caught my attention with "Cameras," the funk-fueled single from their Sidewalks album that dropped at summer's end, giving artists just enough time to come up with a fitting remix.
In this case, artists refer to Skratch Bastid, Toronto's hip-hop DJ/producer who picked out Slim Thug's "Like a Boss" to pair with the indie single in a delightfully catchy mashup. Indie meets hip-hop seems to be the trend of the decade, and I'm not complaining.
The chiming bells and lighthearted drums of "Cameras" are a great match for a layer of Slim Thug's deep Southern flow that manages to captivate and throw us on the dance floor, much "like a boss." And that's all she wrote.
