Every time a new song begins from Maserati's Pyramid of the Sun I feel like I am about to be taken on a fast-paced journey through post-rock heaven. This album is an explosion of energy from start to finish. Each song beautifully builds upon layers of smooth guitar riffs and uplifting melodies to create a passionate piece of music that drummer Jerry Fuchs would have been proud of.
Fuchs had a hand in some of the production from Pyramid but passed away before the album was finished. The remaining material was completed after his death but follows the same path that we have come to expect from the band. "Bye M'Friend, Goodbye" is the last song that Fuchs recorded with the band and unlike most tribute songs, this one packs an uplifting tone.
As anticipated, the rest of the tracks on Pyramid will get you movin' and shakin'. It's clear that the remaining members put forth a lot of effort to make this album stand out as one of their best. I'm anxious to see what the future has in store for Maserati and the direction that they decide to take the band.
