Sometimes music provides space.
Here I sit. At the airport — a place of transition and movement. Marley Carroll's "Stay" makes its way through headphones, and is felt, and just like that, some breathing room has entered the picture.
With a background of training in classical percussion, I'm surprised to be primarily taken by their use of vocals on "Stay." They seem to guide the listener, but not to a specific destination. There is, rather, a facilitation of movement and transition, pointing the listener to wherever it is they are already headed.
Meditative, expansive, homeward-bound, and journeying are but a few words that come to mind in response to this track.
