Why do we like this?
A surprising favorite from Maribou State's newest EP Tongue is this remix by James Welsh. Readers, if you've followed my posts closely, you'll know that I'm pretty biased when in comes to Welsh's productions -- they're always exactly what I want to hear.
This time, he manages to exceed a few of my expectations while pushing his own boundaries, only to meet Maribou State in the middle with this jackin' house tune. It's a perfect blend of melancholy emotional chords, a winding retro synth, and the unabashed boyish excitement inside the bouncy, persistant beat. Creating the perfect amount of space for each instrument, Welsh injects Holly Walker's vocals with a delicate touch, like a finger glides through water.
I've had this one on repeat for days, so I highly recommend it! Released via Southern Fried Records, Tongue EP and its remixes are available via iTunes.
