Why do we like this?

Sometimes remixes work, sometimes they don't. Generally, we don't cover the ones that suck; we cover lots that are mediocre; and every now and then, someone knocks it out of the park.

Case in point: Heavy Mellow's take on "Lips," a song released by Philly band Marian Hill two months ago as a 7" on B3Science records.

With his remix, the Brooklyn-based producer totally transforms the staccato, bouncy sound of the original, leaving behind a thoroughly entrancing exploration of beats, ambiance and lush sound.

Overall? 10 out of 10 on the remix scale.
