Why do we like this?
This frenetic track from Mariam The Believer, aka Mariam Wallentin "“ one half of Swedish alt-pop duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums "“ is a veritable smorgasbord of sound, and I think I've fallen a little bit in love with it.
Compiled of seemingly separate sonic scraps, "Invisible Giving" opens with an infectious percussive intro overlaid with keening vocals that wind their way through an array of eclectic genres. The result is a musical tapestry that sits somewhere between The Knife and Beth Ditto of Gossip.
Taken from her debut solo venture, Blood Donation, due for release on October 7 via Moshi Moshi, I'm hoping to hear more of the same distinctive sound from the Swede in the weeks to come.
