Why do we like this?

Tyler Tholl and Pete James Johnson make up Minneapolis musical duo Maple & Beech. After making music together for five years - and with a little help from local Humans Win! studio - they finally have their first LP dropping in April. "Cavers" is one of the first singles off RUNDAWDAW.

Influences from all genres of indie and pop seem to work their way into this track. The bouncy dance beat and playful percussion move quickly into upbeat vocals and the ear is quickly hooked.

Little elements like the syncopated woodblock, vocal distortions like those of Royal Canoe, the key change two-thirds of the way through, and the low brass tones at end all contribute to one of the most creative indie pop tunes of the year thus far.
