Why do we like this?

Way back in 2008 I fell in love with a band called Lost In The Trees. They had a wonderfully raw and genuine sound, spanning a variety of orchestral folk styles.

Shortly thereafter I encountered Freelance Whales. And then Ra Ra Riot. And basically, a huge chunk of my time living in Washington, D.C. was through the frame of this genre.

As of late, I've drifted from the style. But yesterday's new Beirut song snapped me back into the genre, and today -- just in time to ride the wave -- Malpas are releasing a brand new single called "Where The River Runs."
