Mallrat is an upcoming artist out of Brisbane, Australia. "Sunglasses" is her second track, following on from "Suicide Blonde," which came out in July. At only 17, she's already making a name for herself with her unique melodies and endearingly teen-centric lyrics and atmosphere.
"Sunglasses" is cool and catchy, featuring production from Tigerilla, who has worked with Aussie rappers Allday and Baro, as well as producing Mallrat's first single. I love the simplicity of the rhythm and instrumentation, with its bouncy beat and stompy rhythm. It's the kind of track that immediately gets stuck in your head, but that's nothing to complain about.
This track is so much fun -- the perfect track to kick off an already-sweltering Australian summer, I have a feeling we'll be hearing a lot more from Mallrat in 2016.
