Poppy and chock full of tropical leaning realness, Mako & Rat City's collab "Run For Your Life" is a breezy original made to melt your worries away.
Purely composed as a dance music sugar rush, "Run For Your Life" has all of the trappings we've seen arise in dance music in 2016. Tropical melodies, often guitar licks and pan flute, paired with nostalgic sounding bass grooves and floating vocals soaked in reverb make up most of the track's appeal. And while it's something heard before, it's not like it doesn't feel any less good. It's familiar. It's comfort food. As pop music, it doesn't get much better than this.
Obviously structured to make young millennials yearn for the summer, "Run For Your Life" could be a dark horse contender for one of the bigger tracks of 2017 and Miami's music season - especially if it winds up being a favorite for remixers.
