Brisbane four-piece
Major Leagues are starting to make quite an impression despite their short lifespan. Having formed just last year, they've released a couple of singles to date, and have started to prove themselves on the live circuit after touring with the likes of Wild Nothing, Ball Park Music, and Bleeding Knees Club.
Talk about a difference -- yesterday I was reviewing a nine minute track, and today finds me talking about a single which barely breaks the two-minute mark. Despite its briefness, the band had some pretty solid assistance when putting together their new single "Endless Drain," with fellow Queenslanders Sean Cook (Yves Klein Blue), Miro Mackie (Little Scout), and Timothy Morrissey (John Steel Singers) all lending their significant expertise. Driving and abrupt, it packs plenty of punch, with the reverbed soundscape topped off with wailing vocal arrangements -- plenty for slacker-pop fans to enjoy here!
Previous single, the more subdued "Teen Mums" (stream
here), shows that the guys have a bit of versatility, and there's plans for an EP release before the end of the year. Stay tuned.
