Why do we like this?
The Four Seasons originally released "Beggin'" on 1967's New Gold Hits album. Penned by Bob Gaudio, the track featured the impassioned soul vocals of Frankie Valli. Unfortunately, though the song enjoyed a good amount of success, it was eclipsed by another track off the same record, "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You."
Entering the 21st century, the song was brought back to the forefront by French DJ Pilooski, who released a remix that topped charts in the UK. That same year (2007), Norwegian group Madcon recorded and released a new version of the song, this time featuring a total re-recording (versus Pilooski's straight remix). Four Seasons were evidently all the rage again.
Madcon's take on the track enjoyed insane success throughout Europe, winning awards such as the Spellemannprisen award. Obviously, we all know how huge it is to win the Spellemannprisen award, right? Okay, for those of us who don't, it might also be worth noting that the song was featured in CSI: NY, America's Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance. Who knew selling out could sound so good?
