I'm here to premiere a tune called "Out For A Run" by a relatively new artist named Macajey. Based in Estonia with roots in the Bay Area, Macajey -- or Jeremy Macachor, as he is known to his family -- is a few weeks from releasing his first album, Let's Go.
This single is simply excellent. Starting out with soft vocals, fluid guitar, and rolling percussion, the emotion surrounding the steadily growing melody hits at note one. The apathetic vocals by his sister Ashley Macachor cascade easily, becoming more about the timeless human instrument than the lyrics with each added layer. The electric guitar injects energy as the melodic layers compound. It's a heady, visceral experience, soaked in fog and muted tones.
For a single off a debut album, Macajey has come out of the gate with musical guns blazing. Pre-order the self-release on March 24 through his Bandcamp page.
