Why do we like this?

This weekend was a festive one: Record Store Day on Saturday followed by April 20, aka 420 on Sunday. Mac Miller celebrated the musical and medicinal aspects with a few new songs via DJ Clockwork and Treejay's Home N Stoned mixtape. Showcasing new talent, the tape features relatively unknown artists sharing disc-space with Miller and others.

The highlight is definitely "Walking Home." Birthed in Nottz' SP-1200, the drums are tight and crunchy on this one. The horns and keys combo sets the vibe -- a stoney balogney Sunday inside the mind of a young smart ass rap nerd.

Mac Miller has surprised many, myself included, with his metamorphosis from vapid wannabe to credible voice and gifted spitter. When done right, it feels good.
