"Passing Out The Pieces" is the first single released off Mac DeMarco's third album,
Salad Days.
The Canadian-born musician has garnered increasing amounts of success since releasing his first two solo albums
Rock And Roll Night Club and
2, which both infused his own self-proclaimed genres of "jizzyjazz", "jangle pop" and "slacker rock."
The difference between this new single and those of the past (eg, "
My Kind Of Woman" and "
Freaking Out The Neighbourhood" ) appears to be that DeMarco's subject matter and lyrics are a lot less jovial, dropping the happy/quirky, love-song-filled vibe of previous albums.
Regardless of whether " Salad Days " was actually a typo on " Sad Days," Mac DeMarco remains a bundle of irrefutable talent, and with the addition of synth to his set, one can only expect the live performances on his recently announced world tour to be -- as some might describe it -- "raunchfests."
