Why do we like this?
Oh brother, oh man! Take it slow with Mac DeMarco's new single, off his upcoming album Salad Days.
With a chorus of "take it slowly brother, let it go" and other lyrics such as "you're better off dead / when your mind's been set," Mac's really starting to paint a picture of Salad Days as an album filled rife with sad subject matter (the bluesy guitar melodies coupled with previous single "Passing Out The Pieces" seem to affirm this assumption).
Now, I don't mean to imply that rife and sad subject matter are a bad thing at all! It's a breath of fresh air seeing Mac DeMarco, a quirky jizzy-jazz extraordinaire, become more serious, and who doesn't love a great sad ballad? It's like musical medicine for the soul and Doctor Mac has got you on the mend with his greens and beans in Salad Days.
The album is due for release via Captured Tracks on April Fool's Day (we hope).
