After almost two years of silence, Australian artist Lyon Apprentice reemerge with the beautiful dream-pop track "Alice." Now based in Manchester, their relocation has also prompted a slight change of sound.
Infusing the storytelling element of their folk roots with dreamy guitar melodies and soft percussion, the new single has a sound as peaceful and uplifting as the story that inspired it.
"Alice" is dedicated to a 92-year-old woman who developed a friendship with the duo. She'd often share stories of her late husband and imparted her way of coping with adversity on them. The lyric "when I feel this way, I learn to walk on" is a direct quote from Alice, emphasizing the need to move forward and persevere through hard times.
With minimal production, Lyon Apprentice communicate their message with grace and honesty. There is a certain joy that comes out of sorrow, and this track epitomizes that feeling.
