Lushlife has been gaining momentum within the hip-hop scene for the past few years. If you haven't heard of him yet, I'm sure you soon will.
He refers to himself as a "bedroom composer," and although that may sound quite limiting at first, his style is sophisticated, captivating and truly intelligent. The video for his single "Magnolia" is a perfect example of that. Never have I seen such a concept video that matches the song's incredibly fresh swagger. This song and video will suck you in and refuse to spit you out until it's finished. And that's how it should be.
All you need is a quick 2 minutes and 40 seconds -- Lushlife wastes no time getting his artistic expression across. And get this, according to Vimeo:
"Every word to "Magnolia" (188) was handmade using cardboard (discarded from grocery stores), hot glue guns, and paint pens. Random people at over 65+ locations and a handful of friends were used as rappers throughout the video. The video was done completely practical (no CGI) and wound up costing a little under $80."
Truly flawless is what comes to mind when I first laid eyes and ears on this video and song -- I was hooked. And you will be too. Now get to watching!
