Why do we like this?
This song is nothing like I expected it to be. Nothing at all. And I think that's why I love it so much.
Lupe's original featured hip-hop (duh). The lyrics of that hip-hop were relatively stupid, but the redeeming factors -- in my opinion -- were the vocals of Skylar Grey and the production/electronic nature of the track. In this remix, Sound Remedy has taken these two elements and blended them into an electronic landscape that, starting about 2-minutes in, basically makes my eardrums melt.
From thereon, the song continues through on an ambient and beautiful adventure, all-the-while fading Skylar's vocals in and out. The similarity in approach to his James Blake remix (build up followed by mind-blowing breakdown) is striking -- the effect just as catchy.
Sound Remedy's EP drops April 1st. Don't be surprised if you see another track popping up on Indie Shuffle shortly!
