Like the first verse alludes to, this track makes me want to step outside and feel a breeze brush through my hair. I mean, with all this sitting around the house, I could use the fresh air anyway.
I’ve noticed this song keeps getting stuck in my head at random times. I love how the mood is mellow and relaxed while still emanating pop influence.
Sometimes the lead singer falls deeper into the background, as if leaning away from the microphone. It gives a little extra spotlight to the other musicians, and lets more than just the recurring lyrics shine.
While “Unlucky” doesn’t sound particularly sad, the song’s message is much more gloomy. Like the line, “You're in love and I’m unlucky.” That line left a bruise. And it hurts all over again each time the band repeats it. And trust me, it repeats a lot.
A dozen times to be exact!
