You've never heard LUCIANBLOMKAMP quite like this.
The Melbourne artist has quickly developed a reputation as one of the most unique and interesting music-makers around, and usually has quite the penchant for jarring rhythms, dark electronic beats and bulging synths. Now, though, we see recent single "From Afar" in a brand new ambient light, courtesy of Brooklyn-based, Polish-born Jakub Alexander, aka Heathered Pearls.
Painstakingly drawn out and atmospheric to the point of feeling nearly overbearing, the layers all but blend into one -- save for the distant and immediately hypnotizing rhythm, gently pulsating, one phrase at a time, beneath it all.
Slowly, slowly, the track builds. It doesn't grow so much as it expands and intensifies toward the end, before withdrawing and fading out.
Remixes are always best when they flip a song into something totally different. This is entirely new ground for "From Afar", and that in itself makes it wonderful.
