Passive Aggressive Midnight
There was a time in music, specifically around the 2000s (it's always the 2000's) were music got a little angry, but loudly, like really angry. Today, however, the idea of aggression and rebellion has evolved into and fed a fast new array of genres.
The Mosley Jr remix of "Toledo" by Lucas Musto creates a passive-aggressive soundscape of soft house beats overlaid with hard lyrics and an almost eerily driving introduction of new sounds as the song progresses. This isn't to say the song advocates anger or will make you angry, but it sits in this very specific spot of being both aggressive in its sound and yet quiet about its full intentions.
Listening to this song had me enthralled in my need to feel a certain amount of quiet anger and frustration, but also didn't make me act on it, but rather process it.
