The great minimalist band Low somehow released an album under my nose a month or two ago, and while it took me a while to finally notice, I have to say I'm really liking it. You have to be in the mood to listen to Low, as
90 percent of their music is performed with slow tempos and minimalist instrumentation.
This new album was produced by Jeff Tweedy in his Chicago studio, and I think it fits Low's songs perfectly. All the pianos sound amazing, as well as the soft drum brushes. A band like Low needs to have the most pristine sound on the record to really hammer home the "feel" of the tunes. Enjoy this single from the new record, "
So Blue."
