LoveLeo, aka Leo Reilly, first caught my attention with his song "LEMONS" but it's "HEAD OVER HEELS" that has made a fan of me. He mixes up a cocktail of old-school with a strong modern/contemporary twist. It's got beauty, quirk, groove, and a sprinkling of crazy (the light-hearted kind, that we wave off as eccentric.) It also doesn't hurt that he looks like the love-child of Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, and Prince.
As a kid, he began his music career by rapping directly into the SoundCloud app. This now 21-year-old has come a long way. 2019's "BOYFREN" was a viral sensation that paved the way for the more recent "ROSIE" (a track that has further cemented my fandom) and "LEMONS." They all come with eye-candy music videos, directed or co-directed by Reilly himself. "HEAD OVER HEELS" ends with a cassette that skips through, what I'm guessing are the tracks on his debut EP, LOOK AT THIS MESS I’VE MADE.
LOOK AT THIS MESS I’VE MADE is out now via Godmode/Polydor Records. You can listen here.
