It's no question that the music world equates the label OWSLA with innovative, flashy dance tracks with beat drops like napalm. While the label's most recent compilation Worldwide Broadcast promises plenty of that, it also includes the newest single "From Here" by Chicago's own Louis The Child.
A standout track amongst a barrage of sinister, aggressive wubs, it won my attention with its understated charm. It was the only track that made me stop, smile, and bob my head instead of punch-dance-twerking in my living room surrounded by strobe lights.
The Windy City duo created quite a buzz four months back with their hugely prominent single "It's Strange," earning almost 6 million plays on SoundCloud and prompting the recent release of 22 remixes of the track by artists like Soy Sauce, Chet Porter, and Boombox Cartel.
"From Here" achieves Louis The Child's ultimate goal of "creating music that makes people happy" with an uplifting array of minimal, electronic beats, warm, buzzy chords, and a bouncy synth. The track also features some simple vocals and a metallic drum melody, giving it a tropical feel.
You can catch these two on this summer's festival circuit or at various cities on their current headlining tour. Grab your tickets now because I have a feeling 2016 is going to be a big year for these two.
