Why do we like this?
So this guy, Matt Sheehy, moves from Alaska to Portland to pursue his musical endeavors and this is what he's birthed: Lost Lander. He's already got quite the roster of previous participation in successful bands such as Gravity & Henry, the Menders, and Ramona Falls. Now he's leading his own project in the form of Lost Lander.
"Cold Feet" is just one of the featured songs off of the band's debut album, DRRT (out in January 2012). As I gave this track a listen, I could feel a chilly atmospheric effect as if Sheehy was translating his days in Alaska through this song. There's tons of texture and a mix of organic and technological instruments which makes for quite the experimental piece.
The song opens when a soft tribal call of sorts; a hum that hypnotizes. In comes the vocals and synths and then a steady beat. The shakers and tambourines give the song a lighter, warmer effect which turns out to be a nice compliment to such a chilling and sleek track.
If you're preparing for a bitingly cold winter, maybe "Cold Feet "will help you ease into it a bit more easily. There are certain songs for certain seasons and I have a feeling that DRRT will be a great accompaniment for the winter season.
