Why do we like this?

Two artists spend five days in the desert of Joshua Tree National Park and come out with an awe-inspiring album. Their album, Singing Sands, clearly draws from their environment, sounding hazy, classic, and slightly reminiscent of old westerns. Earlier this year, I put this album on before bed every night. Not to say it's sleepy, but rather has a grounding, meditative groove. Also, for me, it invokes some calming and peaceful visuals. An expansive, internal landscape, if you will.

I'm impressed by how Josh Lippi and Tommy Guerrero (of Los Days) recorded an album as cohesive and illustrative as this one in just 5 days in a one-room solar-powered house in the desert.
