Now, normally when people find out about a 16-year-old electronic producer, there's quite a bit of hype attached to the kid for being so prodigious. What I find even more challenging for a young artist is being able to write and perform your own songs, and that is exactly what New Zealand's Lorde is doing so eloquently right now.
She's a young singer-songwriter named Ella, who (believe it or not) is still in school, yet performs on a level that would rival even the best female artists of our generation. "The Love Club" comes off her debut EP of the same name, and I couldn't honestly believe what I was hearing from this young songstress. In between harmonious choruses, R&B-esque verses and angelic sighs, it all just seems so effortless for her, a true indication of a girl with talent.
Lorde is signed to Universal, so we should have some exciting releases from this NZ songstress in the future.
