Why do we like this?

Listening to New Zealand pop star Lorde's latest single makes me wonder if I wasted my teen years chasing girls and playing video games. At the tender age of 16, Ella Yelich-O'Connor has already scored a number one in her native country with "Royals," and looks like she's continuing that trend with "Tennis Court."

The track is a beautiful 80s-influenced synth number showcasing Lorde's innocent vocal stylings that help mask her honest and open lyrics. There's a familiarity to her sound, with the likes of Grimes and Lana Del Rey coming to mind, but it's unfair to compare her to any other artist, as Lorde's talent proves she is her own woman.
