Why do we like this?

Shout out to Andre G over at IMPOSE for sharing this wonderful new tune from Australian singer-producer Lonelyspeck. It's been two years since I first shared "Heatdeath," and while Sione Teumohenga's sound has clearly evolved, the emotional weight of his sonic gifts sit heavy still.

"Happy New Year" offers a sad, smooth blend of experimental electronica, keenly balanced by Sione's restrained falsetto. There's a lot to take in here, to savor, and to reminiscence on longer after our hangovers have worn off and the countdowns have quieted down. The track will appear on Lonelyspeck's forthcoming Lave EP, out in early March on TEEF Records.
