After numerous stints in different bands and projects (most notably playing guitar in Youth Lagoon), Idaho-based Logan Hyde has finally settled down and started releasing music under his own name.
No longer able to hide behind fuzzy guitars or loads of reverb, his first single, "My Only Friend," is a raw, honest work, not relying on studio tricks or over-the-top instrumentation to win over listeners, rather showcasing Hyde’s previously unnoticed lyrical prowess, silky vocals, and well above-par songwriting skills. The cascading call-and-response guitar melodies that complement the vocals so beautifully throughout this tune are reminiscent of Hyde’s handiwork on the aforementioned Youth Lagoon’s 2013 album Wondrous Bughouse, but come across even more profound here in their soaring, harmonized state.
Hyde's breakdown of what the near future has in store for him is as simple and on-point as the songs themselves:
“I wrote an album and recorded it over the summer. it's 8 tracks and it's called Innocence. I'm going to be releasing it Spring/Summer 2015. First single is called My Only Friend. And that's about it.”
