Why do we like this?
Scottish producer Lockah has been hit or miss for me these past few years. His 2013 EP Only Built 4 Neon Nites is a gummy, triumphant dance record that solidified my admiration for the Donky Pitch crew.
What followed, 2014's Yahoo Or The Highwayl left me wanting more, even though the Miami-inspired bass and synth sensibilities seemed right at home on Lockah's debut album.
"Barcelona Drums," off Lockah's forthcoming And Blue Brindle Too EP, features Lockah injecting live instruments into his already diverse soundscape. He's on drums, and Mount Bank's Samuel Organ is on guitar. The result is sprawling, grandiose, and a welcomed pivot for the talented producer.
