It's hard to believe that Local Natives' debut album Gorilla Manor was released almost 7 years ago. Man, how does time fly? The Silver Lake-based indie rock band has been going strong over the years, and it's evident that their cohesion remains in their most recent album called Sunlit Youth.
I'll be honest, aside from the singles "Fountain of Youth" and "Past Lives" this album took me a few listens for it to finally sink in and become something really good. "Coins" was one of those songs that I had to listen a few times, but after I did, it became one of my favorites from the album.
The cherry on top was being able to see them perform at the iconic Fox Theater in Oakland, CA. These guys are truly talented musicians, and reassured my thoughts on the new album after hearing much of it live. They are currently on tour, so check out the dates here to see if they'll be in your neck of the woods.
