Why do we like this?
The modern resurgence of urban music continues with the release of Los Angels-based singer Liz's latest EP, Just Like You. Signed to Diplo's Mad Decent label, Liz has been steadily releasing music over the past year to varying degrees of Internet success, and Just Like You will help her cross over into the bigger blogging world.
Featuring seven brand new tunes, five of which were previously unreleased, the EP is a throwback to early 90s R&B, bubblegum pop, and classic dance, with Liz taking influence from artists as diverse as Aaliyah, SZA, En Vouge, and Timberland -- just to name a few.
While it's hard to choose a standout from the EP, you can't go past the early 90s dance sound of "All Them Boys." Produced by Mr. Carmack & Colta, the track is a vibrant dance floor starter, complete with mid-song piano breakdown and a very house-like vibe, playing perfectly off Liz's soulful, pop-infused vocals.
