Why do we like this?
Yellow Ostrich have worked their way into an awesome publicity opportunity, teaming up with SPIN and HP, who are covering their journey to SXSW. You can watch the mini-documentary videos here.
Headed up by Alex Schaaf, the NYC-based band have released three LPs and four EPs since March 2009. They've also recently picked up a third member -- Jon Natchez -- formerly part of Beirut, who contributes with bass and horns.
The track on this post is "Whale," which has a sound mildy reminiscent of something put together by Sufjan Stevens. It's awesomely original, and has definitely inspired me to try and catch them at SXSW.
Their SXSW lineup includes:
-- 3/17 "” BirdDog Promo - The Aquarium - 8:45pm
-- 3/18 "” Muzzle of Bees Backyard BBQ - 3217 1/2 Hampton Rd - 1pm
-- 3/18 "” Billions Official Showcase - Antone's - 10pm
