I've fast become a fan of Detroit collective Liquid Monk since being introduced to them via last year's exquisite single "On The Rocks." Since then the group have released a number of well received singles along with their self-titled debut album; one of the highlights of last year.
"Come Down" is the first release from Liquid Monk in 2018 and finds them joining forces with vocalist Apropos for their take on Anderson .Paak's original tune. Liquid Monk strip back the funky vibe of .Paak's original for a methodical slice of electronic soul, with Apropos vocals the perfect accompaniment to their bubbling instrumentation. Speaking on the track, Liquid Monk state:
We got the initial idea when we found an acapella of 'Come Down' online and thought it could be hype to do a live remix of the tune. Austin (Apropos) sent us a message on Instagram about wanting to collaborate so we listened to his music and his voice had an amazing energy to it - so we thought it would be great to release an actual cover with him on the vocal. It immediately took on a life of it's own.
Although only a one-off release, hopefully this means more Liquid Monk is on the way as I can't wait for their sophomore album to be announced.
