Liana Banks might be a new name to some, but the 25-year-old New Yorker has been putting in work for a number of years with some of music's biggest heavyweights.
A keen songwriter and theater performer during high school, Banks got her break as a back-up dancer for Chris Brown on MTV, leading to her writing for the likes of Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. Now ready to release her own music to the world in the form of ghetto mixtape Insubordinate, I'm happy to premiere her first single, "LVLUP."
Over R&B flavored production from The Young Boys, Banks gives a big fuck you to those who've judged her life choices. Her unique singing/rhyming delivery is hypnotic, and coupled with her introspective lyrics, makes "LVLUP" one hell of a debut.
Insubordinate is set for release in the coming weeks.
